Yasmin Abdelmawla, Psy.D.
Post-Doctoral Clinical Psychologist
Schaumburg Location, Extension 313
Yasmin Abdelmawla (Yes-meen Ab-dil-mau-lah), Psy.D., is a postdoctoral clinical psychologist who works with children, adolescents, adults, and families. She offers a warm, affirming space for clients who may be feeling overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, stuck in painful patterns, or unsure how to move forward.
Yasmin often works with clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, emotional regulation, relational wounds, self-esteem, identity and belonging, spirituality, LGBTQ+ identity and experiences, racial and ethnic discrimination, life stressors, and major life transitions. She understands that symptoms and protective patterns often develop for a reason, and she approaches each client with curiosity, compassion, and respect for their lived experience.
Yasmin’s style is collaborative, relational, and individualized. Drawing from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-informed care, she helps clients better understand the different parts of themselves, reconnect with their values, and build greater self-trust. Her goal is not to “fix” clients, but to support them in developing a deeper relationship with themselves and moving toward a life that feels more genuine, connected, and meaningful.
When working with children and adolescents, Yasmin incorporates play therapy techniques, creativity, emotional regulation skills, and caregiver collaboration to support emotional growth and strengthen family connection. Across ages, she values authenticity, safety, and the therapeutic relationship as foundations for healing and change.
Outside of therapy, Yasmin enjoys playing video games and board games, listening to music, relaxing with a cup of coffee, basking in the sun, and spending time with her family and cats.
