Clinical Psychologist, Crystal Lake and Schaumburg Locations, Extension 318
Dr. Vogel has worked in the mental health field since 1980, with experience in a variety of treatment settings. His flexible approach to psychotherapy draws from the various schools of psychological thought, and he views therapy as a collaborative enterprise between clients and therapist, with the aim of improving quality of life.
In his work, he values a gentle, accepting way of looking at life problems, where the emphasis is always on understanding rather than judging or condemning oneself and others. Dr. Vogel values curiosity as a valuable asset in the therapeutic process and enjoys working with clients who can be curious about themselves and their lives. He works with the clients to identify new skills, behaviors, or attitudes, which will facilitate desired changes.
As a certified Imago therapist, Dr. Vogel works with couples who have become disconnected in their relationship. Here, he works to help each partner realize their emotional impact on the other, and then to facilitate a deeper understanding, acceptance, of their differences. This paves the way for each partner to view the other in a more empathetic way. Then, partners learn to communicate more clearly and without judgement, which in turn restores safety and connectedness to the relationship. Dr. Vogel's areas of interest include marital/relationship issues, depression, anxiety disorders, grief/loss issues, parent coaching, and ADHD evaluations.
Dr. Vogel is in network with Aetna, BCBS, Medicare, and United Healthcare/Optum/United Behavioral Health.
