Valerie received her Master's Degree in Human Development Counseling from the University of Illinois-Springfield, and her Bachelor's Degree from Trinity International University in Counseling Psychology. Valerie has worked with children, youth, families, couples, and individuals in outpatient, inpatient, and community mental health settings. Valerie utilizes a holistic approach in counseling, connecting the body, soul, and mind for clients to work towards full integeration of self. That process yields wisdom, self-acceptance, and greater connection to self and others. Valerie specifically focuses on topics of faith and spirituality, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, adult children of alcoholics recovery, sexuality topics, and trauma and abuse. She empathetically works with clients through their healing journey by lifting shame, providing support, and helping clients understand internal patterns that keep them blocked from living their best life.
Valerie is a Certified Shadowwork (TM) Facilitator and is most passionate about that style of personal growth. She works with clients on an individual and group basis, and within couples, to explore patterns of behavior to further understand personal blocks and move towards growth, healing, and freedom. Through experiential methods, and by connecting the mind and body, Valerie facilitates change through this intensive model.
